What it does
SPF measures protection against UVB, the wavelength that burns. PA measures UVA, which is the one associated with pigmentation and ageing. You want both, which is what "broad-spectrum" means.
The number on the bottle only holds if you apply enough — roughly two finger-lengths for a face — and reapply. Most people apply about a quarter of the tested amount and get about a quarter of the protection.
An SPF figure is a laboratory result, so we have asked for the test report rather than reprinting the number unsupported.
